Our mission is to build the most advanced results-driven education platform in the world and believe messaging automation will play a big part on that. As an early-stage startup, we lack the resources to develop Mench on top of several messaging platforms simultaneously so we had to choose one to start with.
We chose Facebook Messenger simply because it has the largest distribution with more than 1 billion active users. This means more than 90% of our potential users will already have a Facebook account and therefore won't have to install Messenger to join one of our bootcamps.
However, we are well aware that a subset of our potential users would prefer to use alternative messaging solutions. Maybe because they are more familiar with those platforms or maybe simply because they despise anything related with the Facebook empire.
Once we have enough available resources, we certainly plan to support all the major messaging platforms out there. This includes Slack and Telegram and any other upcoming big player. In the meantime, we hope you understand our reasoning behind our initial platform choice.
You can also use Messenger without a Facebook Account
As a side note, we'd like let you know that is possible to use Messenger even after deactivating your Facebook account. In fact, we encourage students to access Messenger from its standalone portal and not from within Facebook as to avoid any of the distractions inherent to the social network.
